What is it Like to go on a 7 Day Liquid Fast?

As I make this post, I recently went on a 7 day liquid fast. I went on the fast for spiritual reasons.

On my 7 day liquid fast I mostly had water. Outside of water I had organic vegetable juice, organic fruit juice, and 3 different flavored Remedy Organics Plant-Based Protein shakes.

I will say be careful with the Remedy Organics Cacao flavored shake because it had me so hyper and jittery. I liked that flavor the most so I was drinking it like it was nothing. I think it had to be the cacao drink that made me feel so hyper because I only had it one day and that was the day that I was so hyper. My heart was also pounding a lot too and I did not feel normally right.

It was part of my fault because I did not prepare myself well and I also had been dealing with a lot of stress too.

After the jittery day, I just had mostly water for the last few days of my fast with a few sips of the Remedy Berry shake.

What I experienced and learned on the fast

  • Your energy is something to really pay attention. I would be energized to do certain activities, outside of the jittery day, and when I specifically got around a certain person I would be so drained without much talking to that person. I paid attention to when I felt so drained and it was in the beginning of my fast because my body had to get adjusted to this major change and after that was when this certain person was around. I kept talking with this person at a minimum and was still so drained. This made me realize that it really is certain people who can drain your energy and you have to be aware and act appropriately to protect yourself.
  • Body felt cleaner. The liquids I was consuming were pretty good so it naturally was helping me clean my body out some.
  • Body weight loss. I lost weight and liked how I was looking. Because I was smaller I used it as a great opportunity to start working out to tone my body to where I would like it to be.
  • Body waste. I paid attention to my urine and most times it was clear, meaning very hydrated even over hydrated. And some of the times it was golden yellow which almost concerned me. The internet had so many things to say about it and I think I will just consult my physician about it next time.
  • Spiritual connection. I had so many spiritually good things happen to me. I was pretty sensitive and paid attention to the messages I was getting. I also could not sleep when a certain person was around. I prayed and tried to figure out things to do to go to sleep, some of those nights I don’t think I really went to sleep until the sun was coming up. It was kind of rough because I did not know what to do, I was not feeling settled and easy about going to sleep. That was probably a sign in itself that I was not understanding at the time.
  • Improved skin. My skin has had many rashes and those rashes started to lighten up and disappear.
  • Stomach shrink. My stomach physically looked smaller and internally felt smaller because I could not eat as much as I was eating before the fast.

What I did to slowly break my fast

On the day after my full 7 day fast I had water when I woke up and then a sip of organic orange juice. Closer to when I was going to eat lunch I had a cup of organic fruit juice with organic frozen fruit in the juice. For lunch, I had some organic wheat noodles with vegetable broth. That was all I had that day to eat. After that day I had a wheat sandwich with eggs, mushrooms, and tomatoes. Then I had noodles.

For the rest of the week I either had the egg sandwich or noodles to eat each day. The most I eat is 2 times a day because my stomach has gotten smaller. I like that because I do not eat so much anymore to make myself stuffed. I eat enough to be satisfied and it feels good.

I experienced and learned great things during this fast. I probably would do another liquid fast and be better prepared next time.
