I would like to help a Mother or two out when searching for baby necessities.
When I had my son I had these main requirements
- Healthy for my baby
- Quality
- Long-lasting
This is how I started the groundwork when searching for baby needs.
These are items I have found to be more on the healthier side of toiletry necessities for babies and toddlers.
I will only list the items I have used and currently use. The list may be skimpy because I strive to be as minimal as possible. So far so good.
Diapers
When it came to diapers I could not see myself washing cloth diapers every day being a first time Mother and doing it by myself. Although cloth diapers are the healthiest and most minimal option, I researched for an alternative and came across a newborn potty training practice.
That practice was called elimination communication. Basically, it is potty training a baby early, newborn early. Naturally, we tend to not want to be sitting in soil or wet so this method trains the baby early to use the potty. This will help eliminate the use of so many diapers, which helps you out with saving money and helps the environment with less trash and all.
One downside I could remember is that sometimes when the child gets older they can refuse to go to the bathroom which can cause bladder infections and bed wetting.
I tried this practice for a few weeks and it was tiring, to be honest.
Either way, I still had my diapers already in hand.
My absolute favorite diaper and training pant (called The Pant) are by Coterie. I need you to see the link to go on over to buy their stuff, https://www.coterie.com/ or on Amazon.

You will have to fight with the government to get you some more money to buy these diapers. lol
These diapers are so minimal, quality-made, and minimize blowouts well.
Seriously, I have not had to buy any rash cream, new clothes from blowouts, or look twice for another diaper brand.
I literally had one very minor blowout with the diapers. That is, the diaper was getting too small and the poop went up his back just a little bit. It was a tiny dot on the back of his shirt from the blowout. That’s how minimal it was.
My baby loved the diapers and now he’s in The Pant.
They do sell the diapers in Whole Foods and Wegmans from what I’ve personally seen. I usually get the box shipped every 5 weeks. Sometimes I have needed some before the shipment came and have gotten some Wegman brand diapers.
Ultimately, Coterie will help you be a minimalist and live in peace of mind. Because worrying about blowouts or an accident happening was never on my mind. So many people do not know about the brand that anytime someone watches my son they have questions about the brand. I give them the run down like I’m the CEO of the brand.
Wipes
I mostly use the Coterie wipes. The wipes are everything too. My baby does not fuss when I use their wipes. If I need some sooner than the next shipment the next best wipes are the Millie Moon Sensitive Wipes, I usually get them from Target.

Shampoo and Conditioner
Bath time is great because I don’t have to worry about screaming because soap has gotten in his eyes.
I love the Cara B products. They used to sell out a lot and be out for long periods of time. Now, they are doing better.

When Cara B Naturally was out of stock, for that one long period of time, I had to use regular soap and gosh I would pay the price any day for tear-free soap to not hear that loud scream in the tub.
During that period of time, I found another great black-owned baby shampoo and conditioner, which was Christina’s Curls. The tear-free was not as good as Cara B’s Naturally shampoo, from my experience.
Using both products from Cara B Naturally is so easy and smells so good. You would have to shake up the shampoo because it has some settling at the bottom. These are my go-to, they work well, smell good, simple and easy to use.
Lotion
I use the Cara B lotion too at times. The only difference between the lotion and the leave-in conditioner is the consistency, the lotion is thinner than the leave-in conditioner.

This product has a light, good, smell and leaves my child’s skin feeling so soft. I use it in his hair too and it softens his hair some. For his hair, while it’s wet, I usually mix this Cara B Naturally lotion, grapeseed oil, and shea butter. It may be white for some time but it will melt into the curls eventually.
Toothpaste for Kids
I use the Hello toothpaste mostly. Sometimes I use all-natural toothpaste if I run out of the Hello toothpaste.
It is a fluoride-free toothpaste.

Most items I use on the body when it comes to skin, lip, and hair I will usually mix in shea butter, grapeseed oil, and or castor oil.
I am usually careful with what I put on my child’s and my skin. So that is why I look for healthier, more natural products.
I hope these items help you with your child(ren).
Let’s connect and be cool.
