Plain and simple, castor oil is where it’s at.
I had used castor oil before I was pregnant and wasn’t really phased by it. At that time I did not pay close attention to how it made my skin look. All I knew was that it’s natural and healthy for your skin and hair.
After having my child I have seen such a benefit in my face. It is an ever so subtle improvement to someone else, to me it is major. You should know what I mean if you pay close attention to yourself and your skin.
Castor oil has been doing good by me. This is the one I get as of writing this blog, Aura Cacia Castor Oil. Although I prefer a glass container, this is not bad because I still see good results.
I’m no professional so consult with a professional before using it.
I used the black castor oil on my stomach when I was pregnant. I did not use it consistently as I should have. The really good black castor oil is thick and has a smell that is weird, something I was not fond of while pregnant.
I believe that the black castor oil is better in benefits than the clear castor oil.
I have used simple products on my skin for years now and I will say putting castor oil on my face, only, has been my favorite. I have put yellow shea butter and white shea butter on my face and it does not make my skin look as good as the clear castor oil does.
Also, because of my life at the time of writing this blog, I have been pulling out my eyelashes when I get anxious. I put the clear castor oil on my eyelashes and they grow back within a few weeks. I also believe it helps that I do not eat meat and too many unhealthy foods.
Castor oil is great for hair growth. I’ve always made my own skin and hair oils and creams. Usually, I always put castor oil in the mixes.
From a long time ago research I was doing on hair oils and butters for black women’s hair, I usually remember certain benefits from that study. Castor oil is one. Castor oil has been said to make hair thicker.
What castor oil actually does is make the hair appear to be thicker. If you stop using it for a while you may notice that the hair will not look as thick.
When I remember to do so, I like to put castor oil on my eyelashes and eyebrows before I go to bed.
As for my face, I put the clear castor oil on my face at night and when I wake up. This is a personal feeling but I feel like it is a great layer to put on before makeup. I do not put much of it on because I do not want to be extra shiny and have a thick layer of castor oil on my face lol.
I don’t usually put it all over my body because I’m trying to make the small bottle I have last a long time. I will put some on my stomach marks from being pregnant. I do not use it all the time on my stomach so I haven’t seen any noticeable results.
List of some benefits of castor oil
- Antibacterial
- Antioxidant
- Good for dry skin
- Helps fight aging
- Anti-inflammatory
- Helps manager acne
- Promotes hair growth
- Some use as a laxative, consult a professional
- Helps with hyperpigmentation and fade dark spots
- Disinfects wounds, black castor oil is better for this in my opinion and rub in the castor oil not patting it on the wound if you can
Overall, castor oil is something I think all women should have on hand for their skin and hair. I believe it is better than buying so many products with so many ingredients you cannot pronounce. It may cost more upfront for high-quality cold pressed and organic castor oil, black or clear, but it is a simple ingredient, multi-use, and the health benefits will pay you back much more.
